BIO Launches “The Fight of Our Lives,” a National Campaign to Spotlight the Impact of Biotechnology on the Lives of Patients and Families

April 15, 2026

WASHINGTON, DC – Today, the Biotechnology Innovation Organization (BIO) announced the launch of The Fight of Our Lives, a new national campaign focused on the stories behind biotechnology breakthroughs, the patients whose lives depend on them, and the scientists working to make them possible.

As America’s biotechnology industry celebrates its 50th anniversary, The Fight of Our Lives showcases the human faces of biotech as the industry continues to lead the world in life-saving innovation. At a moment of increasing global competition, shifting policy debates, and growing public mistrust of science, the campaign underscores what is at stake for patients and families, and why sustained U.S. leadership in biotechnology matters now more than ever.

Through authentic patient and researcher stories, The Fight of Our Lives highlights the real-world impact of advances in gene therapy, AI-driven drug discovery, and other cutting-edge breakthroughs that prevent, treat, and cure diseases.

“Since the biotech industry was founded in the United States half a century ago, America’s biotechnology innovators have been creating hope that was previously unimaginable for millions of patients and families,” said John F. Crowley, President and CEO of BIO. “Today, the U.S. biotechnology industry stands at a crossroads. Will we continue to lead the world in developing life-saving biotech advancements, or risk ceding that leadership to global competitors? The Fight of Our Lives recognizes what our industry has already delivered, and what is possible over the next 50 years with smart policies, sustained investment, and continued American leadership.”

BIO will bring the campaign to life through a mix of national streaming, digital, and out-of-home advertisements, a new website featuring a series of stories centered around patients and scientists, and live events throughout the year. The Fight of Our Lives reflects BIO’s continued commitment to ensuring that the industry remains a trusted and essential force for patients and communities nationwide.
